NOVA starts all of our professional rug cleanings by pre-spraying with detergent, deodorizer, and high temperature water (up to 200 degrees farenheit). We then rinse with water to remove all detergent, which, in return, also lifts and disposes of any contaminants among the fibers. While this is a standard practice, the types of detergent and equipment used will vary based on the condition and types of fibers or fabric. We usually expect 6 to 12 hours for drying and a recommended waiting period of 24-48 hours before heavy use of the recently treated carpet. (Carpet can be used lightly immediately after cleaning, but may be slippery when wet.)
We use our truck-mounted, 20HP commercial cleaner whenever possible for optimal results. This gasoline-powered device runs the equivalent of a ride-on lawnmower motor, and provides commercial-grade power the likes of which you will not be able to get from rented or purchased home equipment. We also have a high-powered, portable cleaner for those times when access from our trucks to the carpeted area is not possible. In these instances, we still recommend allowing a professional carpet cleaner like NOVA to insure that the work is done correctly and thoroughly to project your carpet.
Prior to your carpet cleaner arriving, please vacuum the carpet thoroughly. Vacuuming is more efficient at picking up dry dirt and dust particles that sit loosely in the carpet. These particles may not dissolve in the water / detergent solution. If you’re not able to vacuum prior to your scheduled carpet cleaning, NOVA offers pre-cleaning vacuuming for an additional charge.
While we usually avoid cleanings on days that are forecasted with high humidity, for your convenience we will never reschedule an appointment due to unfavorable weather conditions (except when travel is hazardous or impossible). In cases where humid conditions present a concern, your professional cleaner will recommend best practices to aid in the drying process.
Our upholstery cleaning services are custom-tailored to each customer’s specific needs. Different types of fabric, on different pieces of furniture, naturally require different types of detergent as well as different equipment to provide a thorough and effective cleaning. Because of this, and the extreme risk of permanent wear or even damage to your upholstery, we strongly recommend a professional service to address any stains! Light to moderate dabbing is acceptable to pick up excess liquid, but do not attempt to “spot treat” any stains as you may do irreversible damage. Do not rub, wipe, or scrub any upholstery! This is abrasive and can work the stain deeper into the fabric. Because of this, NOVA uses a neutral detergent that prevents browning and water rings. Our applicators are certified to avoid risk of color bleeding, and use commercial-grade equipment for all jobs. We never wet the inside of the upholstery, as this promotes mold and mildew growth.
Prior to a NOVA cleaning, please make sure the interior of the car is clear of debris such as toys or garbage. All pet hair should be cleaned off the furniture with a vacuum or dry lint remover. Once the work is done, drying can take between 2-3 hours, during which time use of the furniture should be avoided.
NOVA Carpet & Upholstery Care offers green and organic cleaning upon client request at no additional cost. Please make this request when scheduling your appointment to ensure that our staff has the proper product available upon arrival.
