The title is important here! While many decorative rugs can be considered “Oriental,” “Persian,” etc, the main concern is not the style or origin, but the materials that these rugs are often made of. Wool and silk fabrics require a much different and more specialized treatment. Dirt does not come up quite as easily, and is especially noticeable in areas with lighter colors. While some customers will have us clean these on the same schedule as their regular carpets, we actually recommend slightly more frequent treatments of these rugs for better results.
While many other companies will often clean these rugs offsite and then return them to you at a later date, NOVA does most cleanings on-site. While this usually involves a 12-24 hour drying time (during which the rugs should be unused and without furniture unless NOVA provides special leg pads), this is still much less time without your rugs!
Be careful! Wool and silk rugs are not the ideal do-it-yourself project! Household detergents tend to stain these materials and cause color bleeding. Self-service cleanings also take much longer to dry, and there is a much higher risk of irreversible damage. Let NOVA clean these rugs and preserve them for you!
